Jianshui purple pottery, also known as Zhennan Qiongyu, is a specialty of Jianshui County, Yunnan Province, and a product of China’s National Geographical Indication.
Jianshui pottery clay is taken from the Wucai Mountains in the territory. It has a high iron content, which makes the finished product high in hardness and strength. After unglazed polishing, Seiko fine grinding and polishing, the texture is fine and bright as a mirror. It has the reputation of “hard as iron, bright as water, smooth as jade, and sound like a chime”.
